Hi, I'm Kyle.
I like learning how things work and building things that are genuinely useful. That is most of what drives me. I get curious about a problem, start asking questions, and before long I am trying to build something around it.
Right now that something is Birmingham CNC Machining, a platform helping businesses find the right precision engineering companies across Birmingham and the West Midlands. This journal is where I write about building it, in the open, as it happens.
I am not a precision engineer
I should be honest about that up front. I did not spend twenty years on a shop floor, and I cannot tell you from memory the right feed rate for a particular grade of steel. What I can do is ask good questions, listen carefully, and keep digging until something makes sense.
So a lot of this journal is me learning in public. I talk to people who have run machine shops for decades, I read more than I probably need to, and I write down what I find. Some of it will be obvious to people already in the industry. Some of it, hopefully, will be useful to the businesses trying to find a supplier they can trust.
I think documenting the work openly is valuable, both for me and for anyone reading.
Writing things down forces me to actually understand them. Sharing them publicly keeps me honest, invites people to correct me when I get something wrong, and occasionally starts a conversation that changes how I think. That trade feels more than fair.
Why write it here
Most business stories only get told after they have worked out, when the messy parts have been tidied up and the lucky breaks have turned into a neat plan. I wanted to do the opposite: write it as it happens, including the parts that are uncertain or that I get wrong.
